Carpentry School Day 10

Over the past two weeks, the air has taken on a distinctly autumnal feel. Today, I continued working on the carving for the “Kanawa joint.” While precision remains a challenge, I feel the shape of the joint itself is firmly etched in my mind.

After that, I moved on to marking out the Hiring tenon + Collar tenon Stub tenon. Time ran out here, but the shape of this joint is very intriguing, and it makes me eager to try applying it to furniture making.

この2週間で空気がぐっと秋めいてきました。
本日は金輪継ぎの刻み加工の続き。精度はまだ課題が残りますが、継ぎ手の形状そのものはしっかりと頭に刻み込まれたように思います。

その後は、やといほぞの墨付けへ。ここで時間切れとなりましたが、この「やといほぞ」という仕口の形状がとても興味深く、家具づくりへと応用してみたい気持ちが湧いてきます。
